Overview
Art sites were two alcoves, to be covered in pale blue-grey cloth, on either side of a glass door, in a corporate meeting/presentation room. Each alcove is 54" high and 108" across.
Goals
Designer requested two pieces in each alcove, four in total, that were same but different, related but not the same. Also was determined that size of each work needed to be 30" x 30". Colors of furniture in adjacent room, separated by glass wall, were considered.
Process
Client chose an existing form, the circle in two halves assembled with smaller discs (shown below in fifth image). Designers chose another existing form (last image) as starting off point for a 5-color palette. To fit the 30" x 30" parameter, I changed the system that created the original which has a 2:1 height to width ration to one with a 1:1 ratio. I made several possible color combinations for the group of four, along with variations of each color in actual material, for client to choose from.
