Overview
Burlesque is an exciting and expanding dance medium. This tapestry was designed using a photograph taken backstage of dancers preparing for a performance. The original photograph has been reworked considerably in order to work compositionally. Color and pattern were highly considered.
Goals
The goal of this work was to portray burlesque.
Process
This image began with a quick backstage photograph of two women in costume, such as it is, preparing for a burlesque performance. There is a great deal of camaraderie between the dancers and it was my aim to illustrate that.
