Overview

The developers and investors were looking for a combination of multiple page blown glass lighting elements to for their new casino. They would need to be very large scale, reflect the atmosphere of fun and excitement and be delivered and installed on budget and on time in the middle of a very hectic construction site.

Goals

Everything about our work for Parx was designed for their needs. With a large venue that has such distinct security concerns every details of placement is important. And in a hospitality space, coherence with the overall design concepts is a must. Working within these guidelines Robert Kuster challenged himself to create impactful landscapes in delicately blown glass that would reflect the environment around them and yet be distinct as creative works.

Process

The collaborative process at Belle Mead Hot Glass begins with gathering the style and aesthetic inspirations and the real-world parameters into one place. This gives us a guideline to direct the imagination. Working with owners, investors and contractors we moved from renderings to sampling and then full size mockups. For each element in the project we created a mock-up in studio for review by our client. In this way we spot potential problems early on and can plan proactively for install.

Additional Information

The floral ceiling panel pictured in the project is one of three, measuring 45' x 24' each. Each glass plate is suspended like a flower from its stem above the entranceway.
