Overview
The Party Shark is a fifty foot long representation of a great white shark. Montana Gold Spray Paint on an old bank building facade in downtown Providence.
Goals
The shark makes use of five paneled-over window bays in the building. I was inspired to make a shark there by the shape of the architecture (the middle bay does accommodate the dorsal fin well, I think)
Process
I worked with the Avenue Concept, a public art organization here in Providence, as their local artist in residence for 2018. This project was part of my residency.
Additional Information
I'm afraid of white sharks and so this piece was very much a response to that fear. I exaggerated the size and painted the piece in florouscent colors as a way of dealing with this fear. The artwork is very much about fear and how we confront it.
