Overview
Resurrection and Heaven windows. Blown glass, acid etched, vitreous enamels, fired, leaded. Interior walls. 6‘ x 17‘ and 13′ x 17′
Goals
The altar window, Resurrection, responds to the theme, the architecture, and the exterior as well. A thrusting Heavenward with tension and release. High in the choir, the Heaven window beckons like a beautiful spring morning, fresh with potential. This window is architecturally remote and visually impossible to see in its entirety, hence its theme and composition.
Process
The university president was instrumental in directing the liturgical direction of the compositions. He wanted something that was indicative of the vibrancy of the Catholic faith, not dogmatic.
Additional Information
The client initially wanted me to do the entire window behind the altar but I talked them out of it. There was nothing I could do to improve upon what God had put there, immediately outside.
