The ORBS series. (2015 – 2017) Each work is 48 x 48 x 2,5 inches using oil glazes with natural minerals over marble dust and brushed metal on wood. The intent was to use very centered, stable forms, letting the textures of the marble dust, and intensity of colors, achieved by up to 30 layers of oil glazes, draw the viewer in, to interpret the images as they speak to them.
These are intended for any space where the contemplative image would speak to viewers, i.e residential, public, event space, hospital etc. This kind of centered form can stand on its own in the present scale of 48x48 inches, as it gives a very specific focus, but could also be incorporated in to much larger works, as the artist works on wood panels. The Orbs could be repeated, or incorporated with other forms and textures. Size has no limit as the wood panels could be used as a collage on a wall, and the idea could be translated to fit any specific space.
These were created with a specific gallery in mind, but if working for a specific site, obviously the location, the environment, and the client's wishes would very much be part of the creation.
