Overview
The 'Wonderland' public are on the new cruise ship 'Symphony of the Seas' required a central suspended sculpture in stride with the 'down the rabbit hole' theme. They felt the 'Onion Helix' with its over-the-top dichroic film and endless spiral geometry was a perfect fit.
Goals
The piece was to complement the other artworks in theme. The shipyard architects required a central tube for support and the dichroic film on polycarbonate sheet allowed the piece to remain impervious to the continuous vibration & movement while at sea.
Process
ICA (International Corporate Art) acted as curator and purchaser for RCC and an installation subcontractor has been hired to install the work on the ship.
