Overview
“Odin” is the product of a collaboration with Daniel Bosia and AKT II Engineers in London. Comprised of 240 element, with 2500 connections, the 13 ton sculpture fills its site in a dynamic interplay of form and void.
Goals
"Odin" was designed for its location, in a courtyard created by the construction of the Ho Interdisciplinary Science Center in 2005. The courtyard, 45' x 90' feet is one level below the main quad and is an ideal location for the sculpture, allowing views from many vantage points, exterior and interior
Process
"Odin" is the culmination of a project, "Mathematical Methodologies for Art and Design", our team -- DeWitt Godfrey, artist; Thomas Tucker and Tomaz Pisanski, mathematicians; Daniel Bosia, architect and engineer – to engage with mathematical, computational and structural questions.
