Overview
Nurturing Our Future is a sculpture that honors philanthropist Julie Penrose. Penrose helped to shape Colorado Springs, Colorado into what it is today. Her many philanthropic endeavors were in education, healthcare and the arts. She helped to build the Broadmoor Hotel, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Penrose hospital.
Goals
The request for proposals was created to honor the achievements of philanthropist Julie Penrose with a life size bronze sculpture. Sutton Betti along with sculptor Daniel Glanz were chosen to create the monument in 2019. The artists worked closely with El Pomar Foundation during the creation of the sculpture.
Process
The two Loveland sculptors worked together closely during each of the steps, from the design to the installation.
