Overview
Dimensions: 13 feet wide by 9 feet high and 16 feet wide by 9 feet high. Made of ceramic tile, colorful glass, agate slices and mirror. The artist designed and installed two murals — one summer and one winter scene of the Northern Lights — within the airport's newly expanded Humphrey Terminal.
Goals
The goal was to showcase iconic Minnesota imagery and a Minnesota artist for airport travelers throughout the world. The artwork also had to be incredibly durable due to bumps from rolling suitcases and maintenance carts.
Process
We were brought into the process before the terminal was built, so much collaboration was required with an entire team of architects, a huge construction crew, the airport content committee, and the arts director.
Additional Information
Each of these very popular murals have been featured in print, television and online media.
