Overview
I was asked to build a large cabinet to serve as a bar in a grand house currently under construction. The cabinet is made from walnut the owner had cut on the farm and includes leaded mirrored doors and a wine refrigerator and storage for glassware
Goals
The location and size of the bar required a custom commissioned piece.
Process
The seed for the design came from a piece of furniture the owner admired which had a broken pediment he wanted to incorporate. The architects took this starting point and designed the rest of the cabinet to accommodate all the various requirements of a bar.
Additional Information
This was one of the most difficult pieces I have made. I normally design and build contemporary organic furniture and I quite enjoyed this challenge.
