Overview
Painted plaster, bronze casting in progress. 5´ x 6.5´ x 10´ Mountains are the inspiration for this sculpture. Recalling the profile of Mt. Mansfield in her childhood home of Stowe, Vermont, Fry’s sculpture melds the mountain forms of Korea and Vermont’s Green Mountains with features of the artist’s face and the faces of new Korean friends.
Goals
Model (4th photo) for permanent installation at the International Sculpture Park, Songchu Art Valley, Korea. There will be four casts in bronze of MountainHead made in different heights, which will be arranged to evoke a mountain landscape and reflect the surrounding natural environment of the International Sculpture Park, Songchu Art Valley, Korea. Intended to be touched, climbed or reclined upon, the four sculptures together will measure 6´ x 20´ x 20´.
Process
As part of the 2012 Sculpture Symposium at Crown Haitai Studios, Songchu Art Valley, South Korea, I was one of 5 international sculptures commissioned to create large outdoor sculptures for the International Sculpture Park in the Songchu Art Valley.
