Overview

Long time clients needed a retreat from their LA home. After much searching they found a 6000 sq. ft. home nestled in the heart of Montecito area. The home had terrific detail and architectural integrity. It represented to them a place to retreat, rest and spend time with friends and family. They asked Elizabeth Ribons of Environments Design Group to help them create a space that provided relaxed luxury and reflected who they are and how they live. They also needed renewal in their lives and this house represented it.

Goals

While vacationing in Maine, Elizabeth Ribons discovered a talented artist named Neiley Harris. Her work was displayed in a stylish restaurant in Bar Harbour and Elizabeth's keen eye immediatley caught her genius. Neiley's works suggest serenity, peace and are lit up with a light that is beyond everyday. Simple settings and solitude bring more than words can express and exude a feeling of calm. As seen in the foyer painting inspired by her piece "Meeting of the Minds" or that quiet moment looking out over a Vermont landscape in "The Yellow Chairs."

Process

When an artist's work is understood the collaboration becomes seamless. We collaborated via long distance and I worked with the client to express what they needed most. The trees are so important to them and have a deep meaning as are the Yellow Chairs as well. This home is the beginning of a peaceful new time in their lives and the art that adorns its walls reflect the moments in nature the world has to offer to heal us.

Additional Information

The clients are incredibly kind people. I am honored to know them and to have worked on this project. Neiley Harris is brilliant and humble. Happy to continue to do what she loves most.... as am I.
