Overview
Interior and Exterior installations at the University of New Haven Bergami Center were inspired by the origami fold, Muira Ori, which is currently being explored for use in aerospace and solar technologies. The 14’h aluminum sculpture is located on an exterior terrace while a wood interior trellis adorns the walls of a central sunlit atrium.
Goals
Working in concert, the pieces evoke a sense of transformation of ideas into real life solutions and offers inspiration for the students within.
Process
Engaged through the architecture firm, Svigals + Partners, the members of the Wingnut collaborated on bringing the design of our member Marissa Mead to life with the help of E J Davis Aesthetics as fabrication partner. Working in concert with DiSimone Engineering and Consigli Construction on installation the team successfully completed the project within budget.
