Overview

“Meditation”, a sitting cat lady sculpture, was created with public display. The sculpture was chosen for “Arts Alive,” Oak Bay's annual public sculpture program where up to 10 pieces are selected to be shown outdoors for approximately one year. The 2016 theme was “Looking Forward”.

Artist's Statement:
The sitting cat sculpture rests in a meditative pose, reflecting quietly. To prepare ourselves for looking forward, we must first look inward.

Materials: Polychrome fiberglass

Finished Sculpture Size:
36 inches high x 24 inches wide x 27 inches deep

Goals

I’m passionate about enlivening public spaces with artistic works that bring a smile to people’s faces.

Additional Information

I have been working in figurative sculpture for four years and have maintained a professional art practice going on ten years. My experience exhibiting in public spaces includes a 2016-2017 installation in the municipality of Oak Bay in Victoria where my sitting cat sculpture received second place in a popular vote. This same sculpture was a finalist in the Kingsbrae Garden Sculpture Competition in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick. in 2014.
