Overview

Custom-designed and fabricated butterfly feeders for the live immersive “Vivarium” in the new Gilder Center of the American Museum of Natural History, New York City. The organic shapes and functional design of the feeders were inspired by in-house research on how live butterflies feed on flowers. The feeders will be installed upon the completion of the new addition in 2023.

Goals

We custom-designed and fabricated installations for the immersive live butterfly “Vivarium” exhibition in the new Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The organic shapes and functional design of the butterfly feeders were inspired by in-house research on how living butterflies feed on the nectar of flowers. Our goal was to create these biophilic installations that would promote curiosity and engage learning about nature. The feeders will be installed upon the completion of the new addition in 2023.
