Sculptor Andy Scott LLC
A children’s memorial in the historical city centre location of Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh. The bronze sculpture is 8ft high and was commissioned by Edinburgh City Council.
The baby elephant sculpture is a nod to the adage “elephants never forget”. And with the bronze surface covered in forget-me-not-flowers it is a permanent reminder of the 250 babies and their families affected by a tragic scandal many years ago. The public setting is historical with the 12th century castle in the background. It was selected by the effected parents as the perfect place for remembrance.
The appointment for this sculpture was initiated by charities representing parents effected by the tragic scandal. We worked closely with the parent group and the council to design the appropriate sculpture. The realization of this project was a close collaboration with Powderhall Bronze in Leith, UK
