Overview

Druid Hills community members collaborated with Monique Luck in a community arts project to incorporate the history and the heart of the community. She created a mixed media collage mural on porcelain tiles filled with images and words that tell their story. The tree symbolizes the strength and the vibrancy of the community. Featured artwork of the community’s brand new park pavilion.

Goals

Project Objectives: To honor the history & soul of the Druid Hills community in a colorful way.

Process

This project presented an opportunity to tell a story from the perspective of the descendants of the Druid Hills Community. To create artwork that is representative of Druid Heights' community members and descendants. Participants work helped inspire the artwork for the Park Pavilion. Monique conducted a series of community engagement workshops and invited participant to create collages using colors, words, images that spoke to them of the Druid Heights Community. The community shared their memories and stories. Monique incorporated the artwork from the community engagement sessions into the final piece.

The primary theme of nature includes colors that compliment the location and natural elements.
