Overview
Louis, a featured public commission for Artprize 8, located on Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. Louis is 31' long, 21' wide and 21' high, a self-supporting pavilion of 170 weathering steel frustums.
Goals
The goal of the featured public commissions was to bring artwork of scale and magnitude to Grand Rapids iconic public spaces for Artprize.
Process
Louis was selected by competition and completed in close collaboration with Artprize Exhibitions team, artist and artist's engineering team and building department for the city of Grand Rapids.
Additional Information
Marc Stryker of the Detroit Free Press, called Louis "the best" sculpture at Artprize 8
