Overview

I painted a mural for the mall that reflects some of the local bird and marine life. I decided to paint a mangrove scene that’s reflective of the bay mangroves here in Sarasota and Siesta Key. They also asked me to paint a piano that could be played by visitors so I incorporated it directly into the mural. There is a Large column in front of the wall that I was painting so I took that and incorporated it into my mural as well. When you stand in front of the mural the piano and column blends right into the mural. A very cool optical illusion! I painted snook, Tarpon, Bonefish, and a ton of colorful reef fish. It took me about 2 weeks to complete everything.

Goals

Mural was to represent the local wildlife and Marine Life in Sarasota Florida.

Process

I was approached by The City of Sarasota, Art in Public Places and Westfield Mall. To come up with a design to help tourism add life to the mall. They also wanted me incorporate a piano into the design. So people could interact with the art.

Additional Information

The size of the mural was about 230 square feet.
