Overview
Designed in collaboration with landscape architect Ken Saiki, Lisa Link Peace Park was part of the reimagining and renaissance of the beloved, 10 block pedestrian-only State Street. The main artery of the city, it lacked a space for public forum and performance. The design for Lisa Link Peace Park created a monumented place to gather and honor the memory of activist Elizabeth (Lisa) Link in a vibrant, community-centered way.
Goals
It was important to us to integrate the ideals of Lisa Link in a way that speaks to Madisonians not only now, but in the future, giving this park an optimistic energy. It encourages conversation, song, and shared experience in a way that is conscious and overtly welcoming.
