Overview

Piero Manrique designed a dynamic 45-foot wide mural for the side wall of a gym with five advancing lions. Painted in a realistic style, these animals stare out at the viewer and appear as though they are about to jump off the wall and into the room. Piero created a vibrant, abstract grafitti style for the background. Bold colors stretch across the wall, highlighting the golden color of the lions. The mural was created with a combination of acrylic spray paints and semi-gloss house paints applied with a brush.

Goals

Body Chemistry Fitness specializes in personal, one-on-one fitness training. It's a gym that is committed to assisting clients succeed in meeting their goals. This mural was designed to inspire individuals with their own power to succeed by experiencing the strong will emanating from the lions in the mural. This work will also be used as a inspiration for a charity event the gym plans to hold in January 2016 to benefit a wildlife protection service in honor of Cecil the lion.

Process

Gym owner and animal lover, John Wardell, came up with the idea of a motivational mural for the space that would be filled with powerful lions.

Additional Information

This mural was created with a combination of airbrush and traditional brushstroke application of paint. The center lion was painted on a canvas which seamlessly integrates with the rest of the wall.
