Overview
The Friends of the Arts is pleased to welcome the addition of the sculpture, Lighthouse to the grounds of the Orange Beach Arts Center. Lighthouse is fabricated as a beacon for Orange Beach – a city that represents the cultural development of Panhandle region of Alabama.
Goals
Deedee Morrison’s work is representational and symbolic - based on the continuous interplay of nature, humanity and technology - and the effect each plays on the other. The 15 foot tall Lighthouse sculpture consist of four elements: a Corten steel pipe, 32 laser cut Corten steel panels, lexan and LED lighting. The steel panels are laser cut and to showcase the interior LED lighting that illuminates the sculpture at night.
