Overview
The project consisted of a large addition to the existing hospital that houses the New OutPatient Services and New Surgery Center. This addition became one of the new front entries to the building. The existing Main Entrance was enhanced and added to as well. In addition to this project, there was a complete interior remodel of the dated and existing InPatient Wing. Overall square footage is over 50,000 square feet.
Goals
Artwork at Lexington Regional Health Center was not used in the most typical manner. Kurt Johnson Photography's artwork became a part of the overall brand of the facility. De-constructed tulip petals mimic'd the LRHC logo in both form and color throughout the new addition. Kurt Johnson Photography's imagery was then integrated into the overall building design and implemented as an artwork program throughout the facility.
Process
The entire process was collaboration from the start. Each member, from client interaction, to the designer's inspiration and the artist's recommendation and implementation, was a synergy of ideas. The result: a thematic, integrated, bright and contemporary, yet calming look and feel throughout the entire updated facility. This team took this project from conception to completion, always with the "patient first" sensibility. The result? A success!
Additional Information
All great projects start with design thought leaders and client leaders that back it up and support the creative process. Lexington Regional Health Center was integral in the success of creation and implementation of the project.
