Overview
I was commissioned by a private resident to replicate eight copies of Frank Schoonover’s 1937 sculpture of a copper indian. The family named the statue Lenni after the Lenni Lenape Indian tribe. Including the bow and arrow the sculpture measures 114″ x 12″ x 57″. It is fabricated from hammered copper, silicon bronze, and steel with a weathered copper patina finish, resting on a boulder as the base.
Goals
The goal for this commission was to replicate Frank Schoonover's 1937 hammered copper sculpture of an indian, "Lenni". This was a very challenging project as we had to create negative wooden molds for the different body parts, so copper sheets could be hammered into the positive likenesses we needed.
