A colourful surfer photo embellished with encaustic wax. The piece measures 32″x32″ is photographed with a Polaroid camera. It is then scanned, printed and mounted on birch wood. Encaustic wax is applied with a brush and then worked with a palette knife and heat gun to create texture which mimics the water. The pieces are then polished numerous times which results in a luminous surface. This newly renovated beach house called for a vivid coloured piece of art.
The client chose one of the surfer images that would best fit in existing interior. This was the final step to finishing the living room.
Artwork was seen by the client in my home and they commissioned this piece
