Overview
The Kyong Nam Art League in conjunction with the municipal government commissioned ICARUS DESCENDING, carved in grey-white Korean by the artist and his local assistant. The 3.7 meter x 2 meter by 1 meter is among the 20 works commissioned and installed on the grounds of the park surrounding the civic offices.
Goals
The artist was given complete discretion in determining the imagery, and material.
Process
The artist was allowed complete autonomy and control of the project and supervised the installation.
Additional Information
The project was originally conceived in a rich black Korean granite but none was available during the fabrication.
