Overview
The Riverscape River Run Mural is a 953 ft. long signature project of the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan. The mural painted along the Greater Miami River is a multi-pronged economic development initiative and strategic blueprint for the vibrancy of the Dayton center city.
Goals
The life-emerging qualities of the river is surrounded by key elements that make our city unique; historic homes and inspirational messages from native Daytonians. The strong geometric design of the geese helped create a major focal point to aid visitors and residents toward this exciting place for recreational activities.
Process
The Downtown Dayton Partnership (DDP), Miami Conservancy District (MCD), and Five Rivers MetroParks led the search for artists/designers. K12 Gallery & TEJAS served as the managing contractor that applied Deal’s design to the flood wall. Miami Conservancy District coordinated support through partners such as CareSource Foundation, The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, Cox Media Group Ohio and other generous community agencies.
Additional Information
The mural was selected from more than 80 submissions. The vision of the artist was to include the activity on and near the river, Daytonian history and showcase the abundance of nature and wildlife name a few.
