Overview
JFK-T6 will be a new International Airport Terminal. It is a 1.2 million square feet, $4.2 billion project, and will be one of the main gateways into and out of New York.
Goals
The terminal’s multi-million dollar art program has been designed to be part of the passenger experience by creating place-makers that have been carefully coordinated with passenger flows and wayfinding signage. Stanis Smith is overseeing the art program under contract to the developer-operator JFK Millennium Partners.
Process
Stanis Smith has been involved in this project since its inception several years ago, in collaboration with the client and numerous consulting firms during its evolution. While at Stantec he led the design team that helped the client successfully bid for the project. Since becoming an independent consultant he has led the art program, coordinating with the contractor (Hunt) and the design team (Aecom/Corgan/Stantec).
