Overview
This piece was created for a log cabin in the wilds of Vermont.
The client built a log cabin on a river and he wanted something that mirrored the calm of the water sounds with the ideas of the water, the leaves flowing and the rock textures.
I traveled to the cabin to observe the site and then photographed the stream and the plants near by.
The title comes from the integration of the sounds and the rustic beauty of the cabin
Goals
The artwork needed to reflect the theme of the river, bringing the concept of the sound into the interior space
Process
My pieces all have a sense of place to them. I am a solo artist so I photographed the surroundings and the setting, and then created the piece to fit the lines of the log cabin interior
Additional Information
The piece is created from heavy wool, mirroring the tapestry concept of textile wall art that has been a staple of interior wall art for hundreds of years. The colors are all created with resist dye techniques and then the pieces are all hand stitched. This is created from large sections.
