Overview
Innocence is an artwork made out of laminated and coloured glass panels of 1 meter square, mounted in the wall that separates the school entrance from the corridor behind it.
Goals
The goal was to give the entrance of the school in Tottenham the excellence befitting the quality of the institute by showing a piece of art that would not be unnoticed.
Process
Innocence was a commission from Lea Valley Primary School to create a glass artwork for a renewed school entrance. Yorgos suggested to involve the children in the project. He took them to Tate Modern for a Matisse exhibition and assisted in a workshop to create the design for the artwork. Using his unique technique of breaking and colouring laminated sheets of glass, Yorgos then transformed the children’s design into a vibrantly colourful panel. The work was created in close cooperation with the architects that were responsible for the overall renovation project.
