Overview

Kinetic sculpture with glass and light enlivens a back yard space with gentle tai chi like movement and brilliant glistening color. Reflections of light and color pass through the space with the evolving breeze and sunlight. It is a collaborative project with kinetic sculptor Jeffery Laudenslager.

Goals

The goals of this sculpture were to enliven the backyard space with some color, light reflection and movement. It is a space enclosed by bamboo and has a very meditative feel so we designed a yin/yang shape that moves in a and out of this form while spilling light and color around the environment.

Process

Initially the sculpture was designed by the two artists and approved by the clients and interior designer. Then the landscape designer created the hardscape circular space it was to occupy and the lighting.
