Overview

10′ x 10′ x 1′
Wood, rigid insulation, construction adhesive
Buried in the earth, viewers can walk down into this piece from ground level. The installation is entitled Imprint to reference a fictitious tree that had been growing in the space and left its mark when its life ended.
Created while Langsam was in residence at Franconia Sculpture Park, in Shafer, MN, during the summer of 2014 and was exhibited there for one year.
Goals
The goal of this project was to activate a bare and flat grassy area, by making it a space people could dwell on.
Process
I collaborated a great deal with the Scupture Park CEO and artistic director, as well as the park managers, while planning, fabricating, and installing Imprint. They gave me the site I was to transform, helped me collect natural materials, and assisted in installing the piece with machinery such as a fork lift.
