The artist was commissioned to design and create artwork for the main lobby of the Imbert Cancer Center. The wall-mounted hand-blown glass sculptural composition is approximately 30'W x 7'H with varying depth. It is a flock of migratory birds that symbolizes the journey that patients and caregivers travel to transition from sickness into health or to the next stage in life.
The client wanted to incorporate artwork into the main lobby of the cancer center that would evoke a sense of peace for the caregivers and for the patients that are fighting the battle with cancer. They wanted a dynamic art piece that integrated well with the interior space and was aesthetically pleasing while also bringing meaning to the space. Additionally, it was important that the piece speak to the attributes of the surrounding coastal region.
The artist worked closely with the art consultant through each stage of the process from concept through design work to installation logistics. Throughout the project, the artist worked to incorporate client feedback while still maintaining artistic vision & the integrity of the design.
