In the summer of 2023, a brand new Illuminarium venue (13,500 square feet) opened to the public in Toronto, Canada. Illuminarium at The Distillery District, a permanent immersive entertainment venue located at 28 Distillery Lane, is currently showing Lite-Brite – World of Wonder

The newest artistic content is created by Toronto-based Secret Location, known for its Emmy award-winning interactive VR and AR experiences. Illuminarium venues present immersive entertainment spectacles in custom-designed venues, surrounding visitors in a sensory space of sight, sound and scale unlike any other, and transporting them to new worlds.

Illuminarium’s immersive venues will transport millions to places they can only dream of by placing them “inside” another world with techniques used in traditional motion picture production and virtual reality. Visitors can experience real-world, filmed content (like a safari) and authentic, re-created worlds in an immersive environment. The third and final show is Space – An experience beyond Earth.

Illuminarium has chosen Disguise to provide unparalleled media playback systems and video server technology - pushing breathtaking 4K content that has made Illumniarium one of the largest examples of real-time rendered content at this scale.

20 Disguise vx 4 media servers and 12 rx rendering nodes will power real-time generated cinematic scenes at a 240-degree native field of view (versus the average 210-degree human field of view), surrounding visitors in a sensory space of sight, sound and scale unlike any other.

The Team at Aligned Vision Group is proud to have been part of this exciting project in the heart of the Distillery District in downtown Toronto. Our team worked incredibly hard ensuring that this technologically complex permanent installation with an incredible aggressive completion date, was completed on time, on budget and met the expectations of the client.

The Team at Aligned Vision Group was contracted to provide and install all audio and visual equipment. Audio-visual system solutions include Panasonic laser projectors, Disguise Media Servers, Lightware video distribution, Juniper network switch, QSC DSP and amplification, Fulcrum Loudspeakers, and other products.

Additional Information

The interactive show goes on for around 45 minutes and has a mix of live gaming, interactivity, and cinematic narratives. Once the show is over, guests can experience an interactive play area, which right now is Light Bright where there is a photobooth area where they can turn guests into a LITE-BRITE Character and more activities. The LITE-BRITE show is playing into the nostalgia of the toy, and the gaming and play areas in that space works really well for both Gen Z, kids, and families.
