Overview
The Human Collections consists of 12 cabinets in the shape of a man, each 75″ high, 12″ deep, each with a different contents, under glass and back lit with neon. In the corridor, collections are spaced 15' apart, six on either side of a 100' long space.
Goals
This hospital specializes in children's illnesses and is a place where families are facing stress and worry, and often a lot of waiting. The Human Collections offers a respite, a distraction from the business of being in the hospital.
Process
I worked with the hospital's in-house architect, an interior designer, a furniture builder and a number of installers. I assembled the collections of objects over several months.
