7’x7’x8’ cast aluminum and blown glass, fiber optic lighting and 10'x30' glass entry wall.
Sculpture indicative of a “wish” that hangs in the same room as the wall of words in which 2 of the poems describe the feeling/and byproduct of blowing wishes into the air as a hopeful act.
Wall of words arrived at through a series of workshops held with the psychiatric patients of Oregon State Hospital in Salem. We collectively wrote poems, songs and stories that are imbedded in the walls for visitors to have a positive experience when visiting is often a difficult experience.
The work was intended to help create an inspiring and calming experience for those visiting their loved ones at this psychiatric hospital.
Patients attended over 80 hours of workshops in creative writing, song , poetry, meditation and beading to create content for the wall of words as well as the beaded waterfall which hangs above the entryway,
This was one of the most rewarding projects I have worked on.
