Overview

“Hope No.75” is a four panel multi-piece work of abstract photography on metal created for Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).

Goals

The VUMC art selection team chose my work when curating art for the newly renovated Main Hospital Lobby (Nashville, TN) in order to create a soothing, healing environment where people feel welcome.

Process

Having used my work in various public spaces within Vanderbilt University Medical Center, their curation team was familiar with my piece titled “Hope No.1.” The pastel hues of this abstract photograph inspired VUMC to select a new collection for their Main Hospital Lobby. This third installation was created by transforming “Hope No. 1” into a new image titled: “Hope No. 75”. This piece depicts unique patterns and an altered scale for this quadriptych. It features four identical panels installed in a pinwheel pattern located above a seating area in the Main Hospital Lobby. The flexibility of my artwork enabled us to scale to custom sizes quickly and produce all pieces within an aggressive time table. The use of floating Chromolux panels gives a modern feel to this renovated space, and is durable, easy to clean and beautiful in a healthcare setting.
