154 Metal Basketball Hoops | 4′ W x 4′ D x 40′ H
Oregon’s One Percent for Art In Public Places Program, Managed by the Oregon Arts Commission
Hoops was created for the vestibule of the Basketball Practice Facility at Oregon State University, which is home to the OSU Beavers. By arranging 154 basketball hoops in a spiral shape, the kinetic energy of a basketball in motion and the athleticism of the player are vibrantly conveyed.

Goals

The goal of this project was to create a place-making artwork that would beckon visitors to the Basketball Practice Facility at Oregon State University. It also functions as a way-finding element, directing visitors to the entrance to the facility.
