Overview
This mural was created in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Art Commission for the Tampa Bay History Center in Tampa, FL. The mural highlights the history of the US Coast Guard Cutter Tampa that was sunk at the end of WWI in 1918 off the coast of England. Many of the descendants of the crew still live in the Tampa Bay area.
Goals
To educate the public and visitors to the History Center about the bravery and sacrifice of the crew of the USCGC Tampa.
Process
We developed several preliminary designs for this artwork, based upon the desires of the Art Commission, the History Center and the public representatives in Tampa. They chose one design and with a few modifications and additions, we commenced with the fabrication process, sending updates of the piecing as we progressed.
