Overview
This is a illuminated frieze 25 feet long composed of 7 modules placed side by side . There are layers of engraved plexiglass and images printed on plexiglass, edgelit by LED lights fixed on a base, covered with printed aluminum plates
Goals
The work was created for a trade school that trains restaurant chefs and healthcare workers. It shows various herbs used in the kitchen to flavor foods and in traditional medicine to cure illnesses
Process
The work was realized as part of the 1% program of the Quebec (Canada) government, which stipulates that all government sponsored buildings invest 1% on an integrated public work of art.
The engraving on plexiglass, the photography and design concept was by the artist. The printing was by the Quebec companies Kedl Solution visuelles and Plastica. The modules were fabricated by the Quebec City based cabinet maker Yvan Theriault
