Overview
The 556 car parking structure was required to re-purpose 3 existing warehouses in Culver City into creative office use. This increased the number of required parking stalls which could no longer fit on the existing site. Instead of a typical plain parking structure, we used the Culver City required “Arts Component” as the façade screen. This became the main design feature. The Art element can be seen both from the exterior upon entry and from within the parking structure looking out. It is open air, yet defines the building’s façade.
Goals
1. Enhancing a Parking Structure with an Artistic Façade Screen attached to base concrete structure.
2. Integrating the Culver City Arts Requirement by incorporating a 3 dimension art installation as part of the design concept.
3. Creating more than just a parking structure. Being able to view art every time you enter the parking structure.
4. Providing much needed parking in Culver City.
