Overview
Thick carved glass and fiber optic lighting create an abstract sunset. This 1″ plate glass was sand carved and then went through multiple kiln firings with airbrushed glass pigments. Glass panels were mounted into custom steel bases and lit with fiber optic LED.
Goals
This artwork was inspired by the natural environment, a beautiful coastal home on Casey Key, Florida
Process
Collaborating with landscape architect Michael A. Gilkey, this piece was designed to maximize the impact at the entry of the home. Lighting enhances the design, and was set on timers to not disturb nearby nesting sea turtles.
