Overview
Cleveland State University, Monte Ahuja School of Business, OH
Medium: aluminum tubing, radiant dichroic acrylic, and fluorescent acrylic
Atrium, 6 stories / 100’ x 50’ x 50’
Budget: $140,000
Goals
The suspended art was designed to energize the open large atrium space to be seen from the entry all of the way to the upper classrooms. The simple flowing cloud-like frames included colored acrylic that shadowed on the walls and floor from the atrium clear-story. This also gave the school of business a lyrical visual identity.
Process
KRS went to the site and worked with the Design Director and Dean of the Business School with the mandate to update the open area with a large suspended environment that was fun and upgraded anyone's idea of Business as an artistic endeavor.
Additional Information
Airy, geometric forms represent clouds as the brightly colored 'plumb bobs' dart throughout the open atrium space. Groupings of digital graphics panels on the walls depict the natural surrounding of the Ohio agrarian area and feature the texts of local poets.
