Goals
Sublime landscapes such as those found in Utah make us deeply connect to the healing power of the natural world, our own humanity, and history – something we wanted to capture for this healing garden and the people who spend time there in rest and reflection. This design reflects and amplifies the architecture in its attempt to blur the division between indoor and outdoor. The illuminated glass landscapes pull you through the space and invite exploration of the textures and intricate detail. The natural materials are soothing and tranquil while at the same time, the glow and the colors in the glass introduce a warm, joyful feel.
Process
Jacoby Architects designed the building to have two wings connected by transparent bridges with a large open-air courtyard between. It is a multi-functional space for patients, students and faculty to relax and serves as the heart of the building. The Healing Garden has many sweeping arcs and circles, and we designed our artwork to continue the tranquil theme. We also collaborated with the team at Bullseye Glass, who we hired to cast the ambitious glass landscapes we sculpted.
