Overview
Google’s new headquarters building is surrounded by a publicly accessible sculpture garden. The works installed in the plaza were developed in collaboration with Burning Man Project.
Goals
Google worked with the City of Mountain View to develop a public plaza located on publicly owned land leased by Google. The art selection process was designed and administered by Burning Man Project to engage the public in considering a place with common sense of ownership. The process revealed a desire for interactive artworks that relied less on technology and more on being tactile and engaging.
Process
I was brought in at a later stage of the project to communicate and navigate installation requirements. A close collaboration between the client, site management, artist, installer and fabricators allowed for the successful delivery of the final pieces of the project.
