Overview
Golden Wave, 24th & Harrison, Oakland, CA
Commissioned by the Holland Development Corp
9’h x 35’w x 50’d, Dichroic Glass, Stainless Steel
Inspired by Oakland’s live oak trees, Golden Wave is an abstraction of a tree canopy made of thousands of laminated dichroic glass elements that suspend from a branch-like network of stainless steel tubes and cables. The glass “leaves” dynamically transition from transparent to reflective and change colors throughout the day and night. The wave extends from the interior lobby to the exterior entry to welcome residents and visitors.
Goals
To Beautify the entrance to this mixed-use development.
Process
Selected by Chandra Cerrito Art Advisors, I worked with construction company to integrate this suspended sculpture into the building. It was designed to welcome all to the building.
