Overview
A donor wall composed of overlapping circles of kiln-formed, iridized glass mounted on aluminum standoffs. It is the main art feature in the lobby providing a colorful focal point for people waiting. It’s dual purpose is to show the name of the many donors who contributed to the construction of the new building. The lettering is sand-blast engraved into the glass and then paint-filled providing a luminous effect.
Goals
The glass colors were chosen to match a corporate color theme. In addition to the lobby circles, there were glass room plaques that carry the color theme throughout the building. Each plaque was also sandblast engraved with a room name.
Process
This project required cooperation between my studio and the builder (to provide sufficient wall structure for the standoffs), and also the sign vendor who installed the room plaques.
