Overview
Comprised of six station medallions located at the Valley Metro Light-Rail station in Mesa, AZ, this project uses botanical vernacular to extend beyond science and touch on themes of growth, potential and transformation. Here the analogy between animal, plant and human growth represents “blooming” and the abundant promise of the future.
Goals
The goal of this project was to create a drive-thru gallery of narrative art along the expanded light-rail line in the city of Mesa, Arizona.
Process
After discussing a concept and direction with Valley Metro and the city of Mesa, we presented several ideas. With feedback from the selection committee, the desert fauna theme was chosen. Flora, Fauna, Humana is the end result of a collaboration between Mesa Public Art, Valley Metro and our studio.
