Overview
Kiln-formed glass panels enhance stairwell descending into a theater room.
Inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s chronophotography, this installation blossoms/opens as one descends the stair. Two distinctly-sized panels of glass oriented at unique angle within each light well, controlling light and color saturation on the opposing wall.
Goals
Goals of this artwork were to utilize fused glass and light to create a unique and memorable experience to those moving through the space.
Process
Collaboration was essential within this project as tolerances were very tight. Discussion originated prior to the light well installation about how the steel would connect to the wood and then the glass to the steel.
Additional Information
Each project presents a new opportunity of learning and exploring the goals and vision of others...bringing this to life for people is one of the greatest experiences of being an artist.
